These stores have what is known in the business as "loss leaders". Loss leaders are items that a store sells that they actually loose money selling, but they attract shoppers. Stores hope to recoup there losses on selling you other items that aren't such a great deal. This is how they make their money. So the bottom line is know the price of what you are buying and don't assume everything is a steal.
