Oil Change Scam

Your rating: None Average: 4 (1 vote)

OK. So you're a slacker and you probably haven't changed you oil for a while now. In fact, if more people were like you, the term "oil crisis" would never have been invented. You're watching TV and see a "JIFFI BOOB" advertisement on oil change specials, and decide you should get a little nervous about not changing your oil, but maybe not until next month.

Don't Buy Commercical Software Products

Your rating: None Average: 5 (2 votes)

There are many excellent "open source" software applications that you can download from the web for free.

For instance, if you need photo imaging software like Photoshop, GIMP is an excellent product that compares to Photoshop, but it's free.

Here's another one, Open Office by Sun Micro Systems. It's is almost equivalent to Microsoft Office but it doesn't cost $500. You can configure the Open Office to open and save all documents and files in Microsoft format by default. It's pretty amazing.

Shop at Walmart, COSCO, SAMS or BJ type places

Yeah, I know. You wouldn't be caught dead in Walmart. Truth be told but you can save a crap load of money shopping there. The big discount stores like COSCO, SAMS, or BJs are another great place to save money but you have to know what you are buying. Not everything is a great deal. These stores have what is known in the business as "loss leaders". Loss leaders are items that a store sells that they actually loose money selling, but they attract shoppers. Stores hope to recoup there losses on selling you other items that aren't such a great deal. This is how they make their money.

Use Fluorescent Light Blubs

Use Energy Smart Compact fluorescent light bulbs. They replace incandescent light bulbs and fit in the same sockets. They use up to 75% less energy and last up to 10 times longer. They are a little more expensive but you can get them much cheaper at a BJs, COSTCO or SAMS club.
